Frequently Asked Questions

Buying and selling medicines online with Medicycle – Is it safe?

Medicycle aims to facilitate a safe exchange. Only authorised personnel, such as registered pharmacies and/or wholesalers can access the platform. All users will be verified via GPhC / MHRA registration credentials. We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.

My order has been accepted by the seller, what now?

Just sit back and relax! Once the seller has approved your purchase, they will receive delivery instructions from Medicycle to process your order for shipping. You will receive a notification once your order has been dispatched.

How do I upload products?

You can upload products online via the Medicycle dashboard. Our product directory is linked with C&D so you can select the exact product you wish to sell. We also provide automated Excel order forms that you can download from the platform and upload directly to your account.

How does payment work?

When you register as a buyer/seller, you will be asked to complete a form with you bank details which includes account number and sort code. Once your product has been reserved and prices have been agreed, the account details are available for you to directly transfer funds to the seller. From recent feedback, we have temporarily removed automated payments due to transactional costs incurred to users.

Are there any restrictions to what can be listed/sold?

Pharmacies cannot list any Controlled Drugs (CD2,3,4,5) and Cold Chain (Fridge Lines). There are no restrictions for wholesalers.

Does Medicycle charge a commission for selling on the platform?

Pharmacies are NOT charged any commission or transaction fees! Only wholesalers will be charged a 5% commission charge. All commission charges will be invoiced to wholesalers at the end of the month.

My pharmacy does not have a Wholesale License (WDA(H)) - Can I sell medicines?

Yes. Our platform has been built for pharmacies to reduce medicines waste. The MHRA has stated that pharmacies do not need a WDA(H) if the following criteria are met.

With our expertise, we can guide and consult all customers who trade medicines on our platform to ensure a legal transaction is taking place

How do I submit an order?

Once you’ve selected all the items you wish to purchase, you can submit your order. The seller(s) will then be notified to confirm the order. Once the order is confirmed, payments are made from the buyer to the seller and goods are dispatched.

Can I offer the seller less than the price they have listed an item for?

Yes! The great benefit of trading with Medicycle is that we are a licensed medicines broker so you can negotiate the best price. When you are purchasing an item, you may be given the option to negotiate a lower price. The seller can review your offer and if they are happy your order will be processed. If the negotiated price is too low for the seller; your order will be rejected and you will need to revise your offer.

Delivery

Is delivery included in your service?

Unfortunately, we do not offer an integration for the delivery of medicines within our platform and there is a reason for this. As we are a carbon neutral company, we will only source logistics which is also carbon neutral. Logistics providers who are carbon neutral can charge at least twice the costs of delivery. To keep costs minimal for our customers we have decided for the seller to source their own logistics provider.

What happens if I receive an incorrect medicine?

If you have received a medicine that is different than advertised by the seller or is severely damaged, you must inform us immediately. We will then investigate and open a conversation between buyer and seller. The majority of all queries can be solved via this method however if there is no agreement, we will intervene and decide who is at fault.

What if I receive an incorrect/damaged product?

Buyers are able to evaluate sellers after purchase. If the medicines sold do appear to be invalid as advertised, then Medicycle will bring you and the seller in touch with each other in a moderated chat discussion in order to find an amicable solution. But don’t worry, in 99.5% of all sold medicines, everything is perfectly fine. In cases of fraud, the seller will be permanently banned from Medicycle.
